Saint Jaigeeshavya is the devotee of Lord Shiva. Under peculiar circumstances relating to emergency-rule of King Divodas in Kashi, Lord Vishwanath vacates Kashi. Saint Jaigeeshavya begins his endless weep for the return of Lord Vishwanath from Mountains of Mandara.His penance is characterised by no intake of food for many years.
On his return to Kashi, Lord Vishwanath first goes to the spot where saint Jaigeeshavya did tapas in a cave.Here Lord Vishwanath awards a title "Yogeshwar Jaigeeshavya "
